A spiritual community dedicated to helping people discover lasting happiness, deeper purpose, and meaningful connections through the timeless wisdom of bhakti-yoga.
We are not an independent spiritual path — we are a local expression of a global movement that has been transforming lives for nearly six decades, inspiring millions through its teachings, communities, festivals, educational initiatives, and humanitarian efforts.
Manhattan,
New York City
In 1966, an elderly spiritual teacher from India — His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada — arrived in New York City with a simple yet profound mission: to share the timeless wisdom of Krishna consciousness with the world.
From a small storefront in Manhattan, he ignited a spiritual movement. It was a movement of Hare Krishna Sankirtan — the congregational chanting of God's holy names. A movement of simple living and high thinking. A movement of compassion, character, self-discipline, and joyful devotion.
A movement that encouraged people from all backgrounds to live a life guided by spiritual principles and dedicated service to God and humanity.
"Children are a blank slate. You can mould them as you like & they are eager to learn."
— His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada
What started with a handful of sincere seekers soon spread across cities, countries, and continents — becoming widely known around the world as the Hare Krishna Movement.
Over time, it inspired millions through its teachings, communities, festivals, educational initiatives, and humanitarian efforts — establishing hundreds of temples and centres across every continent.

Today, HKM Sydney proudly continues that same legacy. We are not an independent spiritual path, but a local expression of a global movement that has been transforming lives for nearly six decades.
At HKM Sydney, we believe that spiritual life is not about belonging to a particular nationality, culture, or background. It is about awakening our shared spiritual identity and reconnecting with our eternal relationship with Krishna.
That is the heart of the Hare Krishna Movement — a worldwide spiritual family united by devotion, joy, wisdom, and service.
At HKM Sydney, we work to promote these timeless values through every program, class, activity, and community gathering we host.
Nurturing a loving relationship with God through prayer, worship, and daily spiritual practice.
Applying spiritual knowledge from the Bhagavad-gita and Vedic scriptures in everyday life.
Recognising the divine in all living beings and extending care, kindness, and service to everyone.
Living with purity, honesty, and responsibility — aligning every action with one's spiritual values.
Building genuine and lasting relationships rooted in shared spiritual purpose and mutual support.
Contributing positively to society and the world through selfless action, or seva, in all its forms.
Celebrating life through kirtan, Vedic culture, festivals, and the bliss of spiritual practice.
One of the most visible expressions of our community values is the free distribution of prasadam — sanctified food — as an act of love and service to all.
